About
Who Frank Zhang is, what he writes about, and why this site exists.
Hi, I am Frank Zhang.
This site mostly covers four kinds of writing: macOS troubleshooting, Vim and productivity tools, AI reflections, and long-term learning.
I want it to be more than a place to publish posts. I want it to become a durable knowledge base that is searchable, reusable, and easy to reference.
What I am writing now
1. macOS and system troubleshooting
Most of these posts come from real incidents.
I try to keep the symptoms, the diagnostic path, the verification steps, and the final fix together instead of only writing down a quick answer.
2. Vim and productivity tools
I care a lot about editors and workflows.
Instead of piling up commands, I prefer to explain why a behavior happens. Once you understand the mechanics, a tool becomes part of your capability rather than a list of tricks to memorize.
3. AI tools and cognitive reflection
I follow AI for the productivity gains, but I care just as much about the blind spots that come with using it.
So this site is not only about “how powerful a tool is”. It is also about how to avoid losing judgment while working with AI.
4. Learning systems and long-term growth
I am also interested in retrospectives, metacognition, and long-term learning systems.
These topics are not “purely technical”, but I think they matter because the limits of a person are often defined more by how they learn than by any single tool.
Why this site exists
I built this site for three reasons:
- To preserve real experience: keep the fixes and lessons somewhere I can reuse later.
- To own a stable publishing space: I prefer a place that I control instead of depending entirely on a social platform.
- To build a long-term personal brand: keep turning capability, thought, and practice into something coherent instead of scattering it across chats and notes.
Who this site is for
You will probably like it here if you:
- want to know how to diagnose and verify, not just copy a quick fix;
- care about the mechanics behind tools;
- care about both efficiency and long-term growth;
- want a technical thinking space that is not controlled by platform churn.
